MenaITech supports the final round of Microsoft Imagine Cup Jordan 2012

MenaITech, the regional company specialized in building and deploying human resources applications, supported the final round of Microsoft Imagine Cup Jordan 2012 competition, held the 1st at King Hussein Cultural Center under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah.

A total of seven projects conducted by Jordanian students were nominated for the world’s premier student technology competition which seeks to motivate talented youth who excel in the field of information technology and software solutions to effectively deploy their outstanding capabilities that will contribute to the development of this sector in the kingdom.

In his comment, MenaITech’s CEO, Dr. Bashar Hawamdeh, stressed the event’s important role in taking the industry of building software solutions in the kingdom to the next level and providing support for gifted students whose pioneering proposals will help address the world’s toughest problems with technology.

Praising the quality of the projects presented by the competitors, Dr. Hawamdeh said: “Our keenness to back this competition stems from our belief in the significance of protecting intellectual property and boosting the “MenaIP” initiative which was recently launched to encourage endowed people to come up with innovative ideas in the IT sector and help them turn these thoughts into action and create a roadmap for success.”

Dancing Pillow was announced as the winning team, which is made up of students from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, who created an electronic pillow that wakes up the sleeper using light, vibration sound or smell.

Regarding the winning team, Dr. Hawamdeh added, “We wish the best of luck to the winners who will represent the kingdom when partaking in the Imagine Cup 2012 Worldwide finals and whose future endeavors and powers of creative imagination will lead to further technological advancements in the kingdom.”

Remarkably, more than 580 Jordanian students applied for Microsoft Imagine Cup Jordan 2012 competition, organized under the theme “Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems.”

The first place winner will continue in to the Worldwide Finals which will take place from July 6th to 10th in Sydney, Australia.
